A lot has happened since the last time we spoke with Reggie ‘N’ Bollie. In July, the duo released their single ‘Bumaye’ and they have been in the studio working non-stop on their debut album. We caught up with them to discuss their album and their independent record label F.R.O.D MUSIC Ltd.

CM: Congratulations on your latest single ’Bumaye’! If you could describe the song in three words, what would it be?
Reggie ‘N’ Bollie: Current – Dynamic – Unpredictable

CM: The song is a bit different than your usual style, what made you want to try something new?
Reggie ‘N’ Bollie: This record is different than our previous records but embodies the style of music we want to bring out. This style is one of the many styles we have in our RnB sleeve.

CM: What messages or feelings do you want your music to convey?
Reggie ‘N’ Bollie: Our aim is to make people feel good and positive. Give them the opportunity to detach themselves from any negativity or everyday struggle. This is what music is about and you certainly recognise the feel good vibe in all our songs.

CM: You’re preparing to release your debut album! What can you tell us about it?
Reggie ‘N’ Bollie: We’ve put a lot into this album and hope people will connect with it. It is a very dynamic album and you will certainly see and feel the versatility of our sound. We don’t want to give away much but you can expect a surprising collaboration with an internationally acclaimed artist.

CM: Is there one track on the album that you’re particularly proud of? What is the meaning/story behind the song?
Reggie ‘N’ Bollie: We are very proud of ‘Dreams’ the one we did with Che Chesterman. We wrote that song back in 2014 but felt it needed that special touch and vocal that could elevate it. It is a very inspiring song, one you would not expect from us and Che’s vocals are something else. We are very proud of it and can’t wait for you all to hear it.

CM: Earlier this year, you guys announced that you’ve started your own Independent label named F.R.O.D MUSIC Ltd. Has the label change influenced the outcome of your album?
Reggie ‘N’ Bollie: It has really influenced the outcome as before we were doing music that could please our A&R and the label, but now we put ourselves first. It is our sound, our vision.

CM: What made you decide to start your own label?
Reggie ‘N’ Bollie: It had always been in our mind and plans even long before being on the X Factor so when we parted ways with Syco the transition was easy for us as we were ready to take that step to finally have full creative control of our music.

CM: Other than releasing your own music, what do you hope to accomplish with F.R.O.D MUSIC Ltd.?
Reggie ‘N’ Bollie: We want to grow the brand internationally and sign other artists that share our same vision and passion. We are working hard on it and do believe that with our determination we can achieve our goals.

CM: It’s been two years since you were on The X Factor, how do you think you’ve grown as artists since then?
Reggie ‘N’ Bollie:  We have grown and experienced a lot in these two years. We are very grateful for the platform and exposure the show gave us and so far it has been an amazing experience.
We love what we do and are working very hard to make our mark in the industry.

CM: What can your fans expect to see from you this year?
Reggie ‘N’ Bollie: Definitely the album is coming out this year and hopefully we will embark on our own tour after that.
We also have lots of other projects we are proudly involved with that we will be revealing soon.
